Medicinal Homemade Chocolate
I’m sorry, but you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t like a dose of chocolate every now and then. We all have our favorites from dark chunks to Reeses Cups (mine). The problem is that I would prefer my chocolate work for me not against me. Reeses doesn’t really cut it these days as it tends to not test well more than I’d like.
I’ve found a replacement that works for me that I can enjoy on a regular basis without any unwanted side effects that most of us associate with crap foods. The great thing about this recipe is that you can tweak it to your liking by adding pretty much anything you want. The options are virtually limitless. I’ve even made my very own Reeses Cups, but better.
Raw Medicinal Chocolate
1 cup ground cacao (or cocoa)
1/2 cup maple syrup or raw honey
1/8 cup coconut oil
1 pinch sea salt
2 Tbspns coconut cream (optional)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
1/4-1/2 cup soaked goji berries (optional)
1 Tbsp Maca powder (optional)
1 Tbsp Mesquite powder (optional)
Nut butter of choice (optional)
There are two ways you can do this, heat everything gently on the stove until melted and mixed or throw it all in a powerful blender and mix. I have done both and like the first method best.
Once blended spread onto wax-papered dish and place into the freezer for approximately 10 minutes.
Variation: If you prefer you can also use as a dip for fresh fruits.
Enjoy the deliciousness
